Music Notation Rendering With JS: VexFlow

Posted: 24 Nov 2010 11:51 AM PST

VexFlow is an open-source and web-based music notation rendering API built with JavaScript.

It is a standalone library and supports HTML5 Canvas + SVG for creating the output.

The developer mentions that here are still missing features but the library is probably a must-have for anyone into music and web.

There is also VexTab, a simple tablature language that can be used to quickly edit and render guitar tablature. It uses VexFlow for the rendering part.

And, if you don't want to host the libraries yourself, there is TabDiv which allows you to easily embed nicely-rendered guitar tablature into your web-sites and blogs.
