Network Security Engineer- Reston, VA

Serves as a Sr. Security Engineer on a team that is responsible for providing secure solutions and intrusion detection for an enterprise network. Must have hands on experience with developing and implementing intrusion detection systems, firewall security, and penetration testing. Experience with conducting network security testing and evaluation processes leading up to certification and accreditation on distributed networks. The individual must have hands on experience with developing and implementing network security policy and procedure.

4 years of securing a wide are network. Practical experience with IDS (Intrusion Detection System) systems. Customer facing consulting skills and experience including excellent written and oral communications # Windows and Unix (particularly Solaris) OS. Linux helpful.  * Candidate must hold a minimum of 4 years experience with IDS (Intrusion Detection System) systems in order to be considered.

Skills/Experience:
 Administrative and security expertise in all flavors of Windows (Windows NT, Windows 2000).
 Experience in a heterogeneous computing environment including but not limited to UNIX/Linux/Windows.
 System administration experience in a production environment.
 Experience in auditing of networks, operating systems, and applications.
 Experience with vulnerability assessment of networks, operating systems, and applications
 Experience with security incident response.
 Experience in the following: Penetration Testing/Intrusion Detection.
 Experience with firewalls and proxies.
 Experience in virus prevention and remediation.
 Experience using project management methodologies
 Clear and demonstrable knowledge of the integration of security in the System Development Life Cycle.
 Expert knowledge of Federal Security Requirements and ability to interpret Federal laws and regulations that govern IT    Security Programs in a Federal agency. These laws include FISMA, OMB A-130, and NIST Special Publications.
 Fundamental knowledge of: Access control, Encryption, Security event log analysis.
 Forensic experience a plus.
* Degree is technical discipline is preferred
* GIAC, CISSP or other security certifications preferred
