Project Manager- Arlington, VA

The Lead IT Project Manager has responsibilities for managing strategic and tactical projects and/or programs on a day-to-day basis. This includes creation of project plans, business cases, designs strategies, specific designs, resource management, budget management, cross organizational coordination, vendor management, executive communications/reporting, and critical issue resolution and escalations.

The Lead IT Project Manager is also responsible for the following:

  • Ensure project meets the expected budgetary and scheduling guidelines  
  • Ensure business case accurately reflects IT costs and is updated as changes occur
  • Usher the business case through the central governance approval process and adhere to all standard procedures
  • Diligently monitor project progress using workplan, project plan tools  
  • Provide strict change management practices to meet project timelines and client expectations 
  • Work closely with development and test teams to effectively understand project details and manage project tasks
  • Apply mitigation strategies to project plan to ensure overall project success
  • Effectively communicate project status and issues to management and present options for issue resolution.

  • Outstanding ability to develop an integrated, cross organizational project plan
  • Show initiative and creativity in gathering and analyzing data
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple priorities, set direction and solve problems in a fast paced environment
  • Strong communications and presentation skills, including ability to summarize and concisely share key project information to all levels of the organization.
  • Strong ability to provide leadership/mentoring to other team members  
  • Strong ability to managing numbers in a business case and program budget 
  • Must have proven ability to drive and coordinate the tasks of a large, matrixed project team, geographically dispersed, including offshore development centers.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of telecom industry
  • PMI Certification is a plus
